Abstract: The Ni atom in the title compound, [Ni(C2H4NO2)2]·H2O, is chelated by two N atoms and two O atoms of amino acid ligands in a distorted square-planar geometry. The Ni atom lies on a centre of symmetry and the water O atom lies on a twofold rotation axis. In the crystal structure, adjacent molecules are linked by Ni
O interactions to form a sheet. O atoms of water molecules and N atoms of the 2-aminoacetates contribute to hydrogen bonds, leading to the formation of a three-dimensional network.
