2-Hydroxy-5-nitrobenzyl alcohol

Abstract: The title compound, C₇H₇NO₄, crystallizes with two molecules in the asymmetric unit. The nitro groups are twisted slightly out of the planes of the benzene rings by 8.5 (2) and 4.4 (2)°. The crystal packing is stabilized by O-HO and C-HO hydrogen bonds.
