(Hippurato-²O,O')bis(1,10-phenanthroline-²N,N')copper(II) perchlorate dihydrate

Abstract: In the title complex, [Cu(C₉H₇NO₃)(C₁₂H₁₀N₂)₂]ClO₄·2H₂O, the Cu atom exhibits a significantly distorted octahedral geometry as a result of the Jahn-Teller effect and the chelating influence of the ligands. In the crystal structure, the molecules are linked by hydrogen bonds into one-dimensional double chains, which are further linked into two-dimensional layers by - stacking interactions between neighbouring aromatic ligands.
