Abstract: In the title dinuclear centrosymmetric compound, [Dy₂(C₇H₄ClO₂)₆(C₁₂H₈N₂)₂], the Dy^III atom is coordinated in a distorted square-antiprismatic geometry by two N atoms from one bidentate chelating phenanthroline ligand and six O atoms from five 4-chlorobenzoate anions. The dinuclear molecules are linked into a three-dimensional network through weak hydrogen bonds and - stacking interactions.
