Bis(2,2'-bipyridine-²N,N')(nitrato-²O,O')cobalt(II) iodide tetrahydrate

Abstract: In the title compound, [Co(NO₃)(C₁₀H₈N₂)₂]I·4H₂O, the Co^II atom lies on a twofold rotation axis and is six-coordinate, with a distorted octahedral geometry. Two chelating ligands coordinate to the metal centre through the bipyridine N atoms to form five-membered rings and there is one bidentate chelating nitrate ligand. The I^- anion also lies on a twofold rotation axis.
