Hexaaquamagnesium(II) bis(5-carboxy-1H-imidazole-4-carboxylate) dihydrate

Abstract: In the title complex, [Mg(H₂O)₆](C₅H₃N₂O₄)₂·2H₂O, the asymmetric unit comprises one [Mg(H₂O)₆]²⁺ divalent cation, two 5-carboxy-1H-imidazole-4-carboxylate monoanions and two uncoordinated water molecules. The Mg^II atom is coordinated by six water molecules in an octahedral configuration. A three-dimensional supramolecular architecture is formed via hydrogen-bond interactions.
