Abstract: The title compound, trihydrogen hexahydroxooctadecaoxoaluminiumhexamolybdate decahydrate, crystallizes from an aqueous solution of potassium molybdate and aluminium(III) chloride. The structure features [Al(OH)₆Mo₆O₁₈]^3- clusters consisting of six edge-sharing MoO₆ octahedra, which are arranged hexagonally around a central {Al(OH)₆} octahedron. The overall symmetry of the Al(OH)₆Mo₆O₁₈ unit is .
