Abstract: The title compound, trihydrogen hexahydroxooctadecaoxoaluminiumhexamolybdate decahydrate, crystallizes from an aqueous solution of potassium molybdate and aluminium(III) chloride. The structure features [Al(OH)6Mo6O18]3- clusters consisting of six edge-sharing MoO6 octahedra, which are arranged hexagonally around a central {Al(OH)6} octahedron. The overall symmetry of the Al(OH)6Mo6O18 unit is \\overline{1}.
