Abstract: In the polymeric title compound, {[Cu(C₁₀H₇NO₅)(C₅H₅N)]·H₂O}_n, the Cu atom adopts square-based pyramidal coordination involving the tridentate N,O,O'-chelated dianionic ligand, a pyridine N atom and an apical, bridging, carboxylate O atom from an adjacent ligand. This results in helical chains propagating along the b axis of the monoclinic unit cell.
