Monopotassium monosodium hexahydrogen [alpha]-hexamolybdoplatinate(IV) hexahydrate

U. Lee and H.-C. Joo

Abstract: The title compound, KNa[H6[alpha]-PtMo6O24]·6H2O, containing the hexamolybdoplatinate(IV) polyanion with the highest level of protonation, was isolated at pH = 0.48. The anion has the Pt atom at an inversion center and has local symmetry close to \\overline 3m; there are two independent half-anions in the asymmetric unit. Four O atoms of the central PtO6 octahedron and two O atoms of the edge-shared MoO6 octahedron are protonated. One Na atom occupies an inversion center.
