Abstract: One of the two independent Cd atoms of the polymeric title compound, [Cd₃(C₁₆H₁₀O₄)₃(H₂O)₂]_n, lies on a special position of 3 site symmetry and the other on a special position of $\\overline{3}$ site symmetry. The compound adopts a carboxylate-bridged layer structure.
