(E)-2-[2-(2,4-Dinitrophenoxy)ethoxy]-3-methoxybenzaldehyde 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone

Abstract: In the title compound, C₂₂H₁₈N₆O₁₁, the dinitrophenylhydrazine unit, with the exception of two O atoms, makes dihedral angles of 2.27 (9) and 14.59 (12)° with the o-vanillin (2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde) group and the terminal benzene ring, respectively. The intramolecular N-HO hydrogen bonds help to establish the molecular structure, while weak intermolecular C-HO hydrogen bonds link adjacent molecules, forming a two-dimensional network.
