Abstract: Brown crystals of the title compound, [Ni(C8H8N3S2)2], were formed by reaction of methyl 2-pyridylmethylidenehydrazinecarbodithioate with nickel(II) perchlorate at 323 K and recrystallization from ethanol at room temperature. The coordination geometry about nickel is distorted octahedral with the two ligands in the mer configuration. The azomethine N atoms are trans to each other, and the S and pyridine N atom are cis to each other.
