3O2,N,O']copper(II) dihydrateAbstract: In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Cu(C11H9NO5)(H2O)2]·2H2O, in which N-(3-carboxy-2-hydroxybenzylidene)alaninate (H3ALS) is the Schiff base synthesized from L-alanine with 3-carboxysalicylaldehyde, the copper(II) ion is pentacoordinated in a square-pyramidal geometry, with the HALS2- dianion acting as a tridentate ONO-chelator in a plane, and two water molecules occupying the apical site and the remaining basal site.
