Abstract: The title Schiff base, C15H19NO4, crystallizes with two molecules per asymmetric unit. In the solid state, a zwitterion is observed, with a strong intramolecular N-H
O hydrogen bond involving the NH imine H atom and the phenolate O atom. In the crystal structure, the two crystallographically independent molecules are linked by O-H
O hydrogen bonds to create centrosymmetric dimers. These dimers are connected by intermolecular C-H
O hydrogen bonds to form layers.
