Abstract: The title compound, {[Cd(C₄H₂N₃S)₂(H₂O)₂]·2H₂O}_n, forms a one-dimensional chain propagating along the a axis. The unique Cd^II atom lies on an inversion centre in a slightly distorted octahedral coordination environment. In the crystal structure, a three-dimensional network is formed via intermolecular O-HO, O-HN, N-HO, N-HN and O-HS hydrogen bonds.
