catena-Poly[bis{N-(2-pyridylmethyl)imidazole-N}(-sulfato-²O,O')diaquacobalt(II)]

Abstract: The title compound, [Co(C₉H₉N₃)₂(H₂O)₂(SO₄)]_n, is a one-dimensional coordination polymer formed by sulfate bridges between the Co^II atoms. The Co^II and sulfate S atoms lie on an inversion centre and a twofold rotation axis, respectively. The Co^II atom is coordinated in a slightly deformed octahedral geometry by two O atoms of the sulfate anions, two water molecules and two imidazole N atoms from the N-(2-pyridylmethyl)imidazole ligands, with the pyridyl groups uncoordinated.
