Bis(-butyrato-²O:O')bis(-1,8-naphthyridine-²N:N')bis[chlororhodium(II)](Rh-Rh) acetonitrile solvate

Abstract: The title compound, [Rh₂(C₄H₇O₂)₂Cl₂(C₈H₆N₂)₂]·C₂H₃N, includes a dinuclear rhodium complex that has two bridging naphthyridine ligands cis to the Rh-Rh bond, two bridging butyrate and two axial Cl ligands. The Rh-Rh bond distance is 2.4269 (4) Å and the Rh-Cl distances are 2.5666 (7) and 2.5784 (7) Å. The bent Rh-Rh-Cl angles suggest steric repulsions between the Cl and naphthyridine H atoms.
