Abstract: In the title compound, [Co₄(C₅HN₂O₄)₄(C₁₀H₈N₂)₄]·16H₂O, each 1-imidazole-4,5-dicarboxylate trianion -bridges two Co(2,2'-bipyridine) units into a centrosymmetric tetranuclear molecule. The two symmetry-independent Co atoms show a cis-octahedral coordination.
