Bis[2-(2-pyridylmethylamino)ethanesulfonato-³N,N',O]cobalt(II)

Abstract: The reaction of 2-(2-pyridylmethylamino)ethanesulfonic acid (HPMT) with CoCl₂·6H₂O in water gave the mononuclear title complex, [Co(PMT)₂] or [Co(C₈H₁₁N₂O₃S)₂]. The Co^II atom lies on a centre of symmetry and the two deprotonated HPMT anions coordinate to Co in a facial arrangement as N,N',O-tridentate donor ligands.
