3-chloro-hexakis(trifluoromethanesulfonato)-octahedro-hexamolybdate dichloromethane/diethyl ether solvateAbstract: The crystal structure of the title compound, (C24H20P)2[Mo6Cl8(CF3O3S)6]·C4H10O·CH2Cl2, consists of a centrosymmetric [Mo6Cl8]4+ cluster core that is bonded to six trifluoromethanesulfonate groups via O atoms and two tetraphenylphosphonium counter-cations. The packing of the cations and anions leads to voids with a size of ca 230 Å3 that are filled with disordered dichloromethane and diethyl ether solvent molecules. The title compound affords facile ligand substitution on the hexanuclear [Mo6Cl8]4+ cluster.
