Bis(2-aminonaphthalene-1-sulfonato-O)bis(1,10-phenanthroline-²N,N')cobalt(II)

Abstract: The title molecule, [Co(C₁₀H₈NO₃S)₂(C₁₂H₁₀N₂)₂], lies on a crystallographic twofold axis with the Co^II atom coordinated by four N atoms from two chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligands and two sulfonate O atoms from two 2-aminonaphthalene-1-sulfonate ligands in a distorted octahedral geometry. In the crystal structure, intermolecular C-HO and N-HO hydrogen bonds link the mononuclear units into a three-dimensional network. There is also a single N-HO hydrogen bond and an intramolecular - stacking interaction.
