(-4,4'-Bipyridine-²N:N')bis[(1,10-phenanthroline-²N,N')(triphenylphosphine-P)copper(I)] bis(tetrafluoroborate)

Abstract: The dinuclear cation in the title compound, [Cu₂(C₁₀H₈N₂)(C₁₂H₈N₂)₂(C₁₈H₁₅P)₂](BF₄)₂, lies on a centre of inversion. Each Cu^I atom is coordinated by 1,10-phenanthroline, triphenylphosphine and a bridging 4,4'-bipyridine molecule, and has a distorted tetrahedral coordination geometry. The two Cu^I atoms are displaced by 0.32 (1) Å on either side of the mean plane of the 4,4'-bipyridine unit.
