Abstract: The title compound, [Co(C₁₄H₁₂NO₂)₂]NO₃·H₂O, is the first structurally characterized mononuclear complex of the monoanionic tridentate N-(2-hydroxymethylphenyl)salycylideneiminate ligand. The Co atom has an octahedral environment formed by two ligands with meridional coordination.
