Abstract: There are two crystallographically independent molecules in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C16H14Cl2N2, each possessing an E configuration about each azomethine C=N bond. The molecules also adopt a staggered conformation about the ethylene bridge. Weak C-H
interactions link the molecules into ribbons along the b axis.
