5-Bromo-2-methyl-3-methylsulfinylbenzofuran

Abstract: The title compound, C₁₀H₉BrO₂S, was prepared by the oxidation of 5-bromo-2-methyl-3-methylsulfanylbenzofuran using 3-chloroperbenzoic acid. The benzofuran ring system is almost planar. The crystal structure is stabilized by - stacking and -CH₂-H interactions.
