Abstract: There are two molecules in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C₂₈H₂₄N₂O₄S, an important intermediate in the synthesis of the cephem nucleus, which is convertible into broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotics. The two molecules have comparable conformations.
