There are two mol­ecules in the asymmetric unit of the title compound, C28H24N2O4S, an important inter­mediate in the synthesis of the cephem nucleus, which is convertible into broad-spectrum cephalosporin anti­biotics. The two molecules have comparable conformations.

Special details top

Geometry. All e.s.d.'s (except the e.s.d. in the dihedral angle between two l.s. planes) are estimated using the full covariance matrix.
