Poly[propane-1,3-diammonium hydroxydeca-₂-oxo-pentaborate]

Abstract: The title compound, {C₃H₁₂N₂²⁺·B₅O₈(OH)^2-}_n, has been synthesized under mild solvothermal conditions in the presence of 1,3-diaminopropane acting as a template. The structure consists of two-dimensional polymeric sheets constructed from [B₅O₈(OH)]^2- pentaborate anions. Adjacent borate sheets are linked by O-HO hydrogen bonds to form a three-dimensional framework with channels running along one direction. The propane-1,3-diammonium cations lie within the channels, interacting with the framework through N-HO hydrogen bonds.
