2-oxo-pentaborate]Abstract: The title compound, {C3H12N22+·B5O8(OH)2-}n, has been synthesized under mild solvothermal conditions in the presence of 1,3-diaminopropane acting as a template. The structure consists of two-dimensional polymeric sheets constructed from [B5O8(OH)]2- pentaborate anions. Adjacent borate sheets are linked by O-H
O hydrogen bonds to form a three-dimensional framework with channels running along one direction. The propane-1,3-diammonium cations lie within the channels, interacting with the framework through N-H
O hydrogen bonds.
