Abstract: The title compound, C₁₈H₁₇NO₂, synthesized from enantiomerically pure L-proline, methyl chloroformate and a Grignard reagent, crystallizes with two molecules in the asymmetric unit. A chair conformation is adopted by the two fused five-membered rings.
