4-(Bromomethyl)benzophenone

Abstract: The title compound, C₁₄H₁₁BrO, was synthesized by the reaction of 4-methylbenzophenone and bromine in carbon tetrachloride. X-ray crystal structure analysis reveals that the benzene and phenyl rings form a dihedral angle of 59.53 (6)°, and the crystal packing is stabilized by intermolecular C-H interactions.
