5-Chloro-3-methylsulfinyl-2-phenyl-1-benzofuran

Abstract: The title compound, C₁₅H₁₁ClO₂S, was prepared by the oxidation of 5-chloro-3-methylsulfanyl-2-phenyl-1-benzofuran using 3-chloroperbenzoic acid. The 1-benzofuran ring system is almost planar. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak aromatic - stacking and -CH₂-H interactions.
