Tetraphenylphosphonium [2-(mercaptomethylcarbonylamino)-N-(2-methylaminophenyl)ethanamido(4-)-⁴S,N,N',N'']oxorhenate(V)

Abstract: The title compound, (C₂₄H₂₀P)[Re(C₁₁H₁₁N₃O₂S)O], is the [(C₆H₅)₄P]⁺ salt of a square-pyramidal [ReOL]^- complex anion [L is the deprotonated 2-(mercaptomethylcarbonylamino)-N-(2-methylaminophenyl)ethanamide ligand], in which the Re=O bond is apical and the tetradentate (N-N-N-S)^4- ligand fills the four basal sites. The presence of a methyl group on the terminal N-atom donor induces a small displacement of the coordinated S atom.
