Abstract: The cluster dication of the title compound, [Cu₂Mo₂(C₁₀H₁₅)₂S₄(C₅H₅N)₂](ClO₄)₂, has [(⁵-C₅Me₅)₂Mo₂(-S)₂S₂] units linked to Cu(py)⁺ units (py is pyridine) by Cu-S bonds and features a cubane-like [Mo₂S₄Cu₂] core framework. The Cu atom shows a distorted tetrahedral geometry in a tetrahedron of three ₃-S atoms and one N atom.
