Abstract: The self-assembly of Cu(NO₃)₂·3H₂O and H₂L [where H₂L is bis(salicylidene)propane-1,3-diamine] generates the title compound, [Cu₃L₂(NO₃)₂] or [Cu₃(C₁₇H₁₆N₂O₂)₂(NO₃)₂]. The central Cu^II ion is located on an inversion centre and is bridged to terminal Cu^II ions by O atoms belonging to L ligands and NO₃^- anions, resulting in a trinuclear Cu^II molecular complex.
