Abstract: The title compound, also known as allanxanthone A, C₂₃H₂₄O₅, was isolated from the medicinal plant Allanblackia monticola (Clusiaceae). The 9H-xanthen-9-one system is essentially planar. The crystal structure is stabilized by intra- and intermolecular hydrogen bonds.
