2-[(4-Methylpiperazin-1-yl)iminomethyl]phenol

Abstract: The title compound, C₁₂H₁₇N₃O, was obtained by the direct solvent-free reaction of salicylaldehyde with 1-amino-4-methylpiperazine. The piperazine ring adopts a chair conformation. In the crystal structure, strong intramolecular O-HN hydrogen bonds, weak intermolecular C-HO hydrogen bonds and van der Waals forces stabilize the molecules and their packing.
