3-(2-Furyl)-1,5-diphenylpentane-1,5-dione

Abstract: The title compound, C₂₁H₁₈O₃, was synthesized by the reaction of furfural with acetophenone and NaOH under solvent-free conditions. All bond lengths and angles are normal. In the crystal structure, weak intermolecular C-HO hydrogen bonds link the molecules into chains running along the c axis.
