Poly[nickel(II)-₂-benzene-1,4-dicarboxylato-₂-piperazine]

Abstract: In the title coordination polymer, [Ni(C₈H₄O₄)(C₄H₁₀N₂)]_n, the Ni(II) atom is situated on a C₂ axis and is six-coordinated by two N atoms from two piperazine (pip) molecules, four O atoms from two bidentate and chelating terephthalate (tp) anions, forming a distorted octahedron. Both pip and tp molecules, which are centrosymmetric, bridge adjacent Ni(II) atoms, forming a three-dimensional network.
