2-Methyl-1-(phenylsulfinyl)naphtho[2,1-b]furan

Abstract: The title compound, C₁₉H₁₄O₂S, was prepared by the oxidation of 2-methyl-1-(phenylsulfanyl)naphtho[2,1-b]furan using 3-chloroperbenzoic acid. The naphthofuran ring system is approximately planar. The crystal structure is stabilized by intermolecular aromatic - interactions between the furan and benzene rings.
