Abstract: The title compound [systematic name: bis(⁵-cyclopentadienyl)hexakis(-diethyl phosphito)-1:2⁶P:O;2:3⁶O:P-tricobalt(II,III,III)], [Co₃(C₅H₅)₂(C₄H₁₀O₃P)₆], is a well known mixed-valence Co^II/Co^III cluster, with inversion symmetry. Each Co^III atom is bonded to three P atoms and a ⁵-cyclopentadienyl ring; the central Co^II atom, lying on an inversion center, has six O-atom neighbors in an octahedral arrangement.
