Abstract: The title compound, C₁₂H₁₈N₂O₃, also known as quinal barbitone, crystallizes from aqueous solution in an anhydrous form, with one molecule in the asymmetric unit. Intermolecular N-HO hydrogen bonding forms a one-dimensional tape structure.
