Chloridobis(1,10-phenanthroline-[kappa]2N,N')copper(II) iodide monohydrate

T.-Q. Shi, D.-S. Liu, G.-P. Zhou and S.-F. Liu

Abstract: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [CuCl(C12H8N2)2]I·H2O, consists of a [CuCl(phen)2]+ cation (phen = l,10-phenanthroline), an iodide anion and a water molecule of crystallization. The coordination geometry around the CuII atom is distorted trigonal-bipyramidal. The crystal packing is stabilized by intermolecular [pi]-[pi] stacking interactions and C-H...O, O-H...Cl and O-H...I hydrogen bonds.
