2-Amino-1-(4-fluorobenzyl)pyridinium bis(1,2-dicyanoethane-1,2-dithiolato-²S,S')nickelate(III)

Abstract: The title compound, (C₁₂H₁₂FN₂)[Ni(C₄N₂S₂)₂], is a salt of the 2-amino-1-(4-fluorobenzyl)pyridinium (FBz2NH₂py)⁺ cation and the [Ni(mnt)₂]^- anion (mnt = maleonitriledithiolate or 1,2-dicyanoethane-1,2-dithiolate). The Ni^III atom exhibits the expected square-planar coordination geometry. The cations and anions stack in well segregated columns along the a axis in the solid state, and the Ni^III anions form a one-dimensional zigzag chain through weak NiS, SS and - interactions.
