Abstract: Crystals of the title compound, C16H15NO2, are stabilized by intermolecular N-H
O and C-H
O hydrogen bonds. The N-H
O hydrogen bonds generate C(6) chains along the c axis; these chains are further connected by C-H
O hydrogen bonds, forming R44(21) motifs and a three-dimensional network. The phthalide group is planar and the dihedral angle between it and the benzene ring is 68.75 (2)°.
