catena-Poly[[(1,10-phenanthroline-²N,N')copper(II)]--5-hydroxyisophthalato-²O¹:O³]

Abstract: The title copper coordination polymer, [Cu(C₈H₄O₅)(C₁₀H₈N₂)]_n, was synthesized by reacting Cu(NO₃)₂, 5-hydroxyisophthalic acid and 1,10-phenanthroline under hydrothermal conditions. Single-crystal X-ray studies revealed that self-assembly of the bridging ligands, chelating ligands and metal ions results in a one-dimensional coordination polymer, in which the Cu atom is four-coordinated and shows a [CuN₂O₂] square-planar geometry.
