Abstract: In the title compound, [Ni(C₇H₃Br₂O₂)₂(C₂H₆OS)₂], the Ni^II atom lies on a centre of inversion and is coordinated in an octahedral geometry by four O atoms from two bidentate 4,6-dibromo-2-formylphenolate ligands and two O atoms from two dimethyl sulfoxide molecules. Short BrBr contacts exist between molecules.
