Abstract: The title compound, [CuI(C12H8N2)2]ClO4, was prepared by a hydrothermal reaction at 453 K. The Cu atom has a slightly distorted trigonal-bipyramidal coordination geometry, pentacoordinated by four N atoms of two chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligands and one I atom. There are supramolecular
-
interactions between neighbouring parallel pyridine rings, with a face-to-face distance of 3.51 (1) Å.
