N)iron(II)]-
-oxalato-
2O,O':
2O'',O''']Abstract: The title compound, [Fe(C2O4)(C5H5N)2], was synthesized via unexpected oxidation of (S,S)-tartaric acid under solvothermal conditions. The FeII atom reveals octahedral coordination involving two N atoms of pyridine and two oxalate groups acting as tetradentate bridging ligands between two FeII centres. The FeII coordination polyhedra are connected into one-dimensional zigzag chains linked by exo-tetradentate oxalate groups.
