Bis[1,3-bis(benzimidazol-2-yl)propane-²N,N']copper(II) dinitrate methanol disolvate

Abstract: In the title compound, [Cu(C₁₇H₁₆N₄)₂](NO₃)₂·2C₂H₅OH, the Cu^II ion lies on a crystallographic twofold rotation axis and is in a distorted square-planar coordination geometry formed by four N atoms from two 1,3-bis(benzimidazol-2-yl)propane ligands. The N-Cu-N angles range from 90.25 (7) to 144.89 (11)°. In the crystal structure, a two-dimensional framework is formed by a combination of N-HO and O-HO hydrogen bonds.
