Abstract: In the title coordination polymer, [Zn(C₈H₆NO₅S)₂(C₁₀H₈N₂)(H₂O)₂]_n, each Zn^II ion is in a slightly distorted octahedral coordination environment, formed by two carboxylate O atoms from two (4-nitrophenylsulfinyl)acetate ligands, two N atoms from bipyridine ligands and two water molecules. The Zn^II ions and the bipryidine ligands lie on crystallographic twofold axes with the Zn^II ions linked by bipyridine ligands into a one-dimensional chain structure. In the crystal structure, intermolecular O-HO hydrogen bonds link one-dimensional chains into a three-dimensional network.
